Used to regain space 

Applies constant tension and may be used to move a premolar mesially with some reciprocal distal movement of the permanent molar. 

To adjust the appliance, simply stretch the coil springs prior to the initial seating of the appliance. 

No further adjustment is usually necessary.

Can be used on the first molar and the second molar
